Endings & Beginnings

Posted on Tue Nov 27th, 2018 @ 12:30pm by Commander Alexia Hunter-Nolan & Abigail "Abi" Hunter-Nolan PhD, MSc, BSc

Mission: Spoilt Settlers
Location: Hawaii/USS Centaurus

Her eyes slowly opened as she felt the daylight streaming through the window. She squinted at the brightness, her eyes used to the darkness of sleep. Becoming aware of her surroundings, she was laying in bed, with someone pressed up against her back. Alexia smiled as she felt the warmth of her wife spooning her from behind, her arm casually draped across her, with her hand on Alexia’s arm. She could see the wedding band on her finger, and she always got a pleasant glow from seeing that small strip of metal on her finger.

Rolling on the spot, she wiggled so that she was now facing the sleeping Abi within her embrace. She brushed Abi’s hair back from across her face, and kissed the tip of her nose. Abi stirred and woke, seeing Alexia’s face as she awoke. She smiled warmly, and whispered “Hey…”

“Hey you…” Alexia whispered back, and then kissed her on the lips gently.

“mmm…” Abi grinned and wiggled against Alexia. “I could definitely get used to waking up like this every morning.”

Alexia chuckled. “Spoilt brat.” She teased.

“Always.” Abi grinned back, running her hands along Alexia’s body. “I certainly could get used to waking up next to my gorgeous wife every day.”

Alexia shivered at the playful touch, and smirked at Abi. “Last day of our honeymoon though babe, I gotta get back to the ship.”

“Yeah… I remember…” Abi sighed sadly. “Why does it have to end?”

“If only we could live like this forever, but alas, it cannot be so.” Alexia said, brushing Abi’s cheek with the back of her hand. “Still, when we get back, we’ll be living together, so its not so bad.”

“mmhmm” Abi smiled. “Even though we were doing so before, it feels like it’ll be different now. Like something’s changed, but all we’ve done is signed a document. We’re no different a couple now than we were before.”

“I disagree, I think we’re stronger now.” Alexia smiled at her. “We’re not just a couple, we’re a married couple. We’re stronger together than we are apart, and our marital bond reinforces that.”

“I’m just happy I get to keep you all to myself. It’s not very often that you get to be with your high school crush, let alone marry them. I’m so lucky that I not only found you, but got to keep you all to myself.” Abi sighed contently. It was when they were alone that Abi really got sentimental and ‘soppy’ like this, the highly intelligent and respected researcher that she was.

“Well…” Alexia purred softly. “You have me all to yourself for the next six hours. What, I wonder, would you like to do with me, hmmm?”

Abi grinned and rolled on top of Alexia…

Several hours and at least two showers later, Alexia stood in the lobby of their villa, their bags packed, both women dressed and ready to depart. It was going to be a real come-down to report back to the ship, but all good things had to end eventually. At the least, Alexia would be able to make time to spend with Abi, although the life of a ship’s captain often entailed being disturbed at awkward times.

Abi came out of the bedroom, having done a final sweep of the place to make sure they hadn’t left anything behind, and gave Alexia a coy look. “We’re all good to go babe.” She said. “But they are going to complain about us breaking the bed.”

“That was an accident.” Alexia said, blushing. “I’m sure it happens with honeymooning couples.”

Abi laughed. “Yeah, if they have many Klingons in here. Jeez Alex, I honest to god didn’t think you had it in you.”

Alexia went a deep shade of red and looked at the carpet. “You bring the worst out of me, Abz.”

Abi laughed more at Alexia’s embarrassment than anything else. “Well, if you’re going to do that more often, we’re going to have to invest in a stronger bed back on the ship. No way I’m explaining to the quartermaster every other week why we need a new bed.”

“Alright, I get it, I broke the bed. You were involved too you know!” Alexia pretended to huff.

Abi just laughed at Alexia more and came over and kissed her on the cheek. “Well, I’m just happy I made you that happy that you broke the bed. Although, I am going to ask your father if your estranged mother was part Klingon.”

Alexia groaned. “Can we just beam up already?”

Abi giggled and stood next to Alexia. “Okay O Girl.”

Alexia threw Abi a filthy look and tapped her comm badge. “Hunter-Nolan to Centaurus, two to beam up.” She said, sternly.

“Energising.” Came a voice, and a moment later, they found themselves in the transporter room of the Centaurus.

Alexia grabbed her travel suitcase and pulled it behind her on its wheels. “Behave yourself.” She said to her smirking wife.

“Me?” Abi said, pretending to be innocent.

“Yes. You.” Alexia said, as the doors opened to permit them into the corridor. She turned back and spotted the transporter operator. “Could you notify Commander Steiger that I’m back, and when she’s free, could she report to my quarters?”

“Yes ma’am.” The transporter chief replied.

“Thank you chief.” Alexia said, then turned to her wife. “Come on you, lets go get settled.”

“You’d think you’d had enough for one day…” Abi teased.

Alexia growled at her. “I said behave! Jeez!”

“Yes ma’am” She said, saluting and laughing as she pulled her suitcase down the corridor towards the Captain’s quarters. Alexia rolled her eyes and followed her playful wife down the corridor. Life was certainly never going to be dull with Abigail in her life.
